I followed through with my word and enrolled Lucy in Art class. She loves to draw but is a bit of a perfectionist. She likes drawing with pen to get detail and I knew paints and pastels would test her.
She is loving it and I'm only a tad jealous. Walking into this studio once a week with her is like stepping into a little dream of mine. One where I get a glimpse into an alternative life that I might have had, you know, one of those great many things that you wished you might have become.
I realise it's not too late and that the fact that her teacher also teaches adults hasn't gone unnoticed. But this term is for Lucy. So I go and watch and sip my coffee and drink in the atmosphere and one on one time with Lucy without her brothers. It's been precious.
Meanwhile Marcus has carved Cape Kidnappers into a whale bone he and the kids found out on Haumoana beach the other week where we enjoyed a fish and chip dinner. He thought he'd carve the scene from the beach where we found it. VERY VERY cool.
Oliver is practicing his acting skills. Cowboys being the latest craze. I've told him he is not allowed to point the gun at people and that cowboys only shoot animals. This has resulted in him shooting his toy horse while galloping around the house pointing the gun at Sam and yelling bang bang. Poor dog.
Nate not to be outdone is learning the art of peek a boo, mime and puppetry as he discovers he can peep out over the coffee table.
I haven't done much this week in terms of arty stuff- I guess writing this counts but I'm happy because look at the picture I found on the table this morning.
A few things to note:
- I'm still at the computer and yes it does look like I'm giving birth to the stool.
- Notice the apple she's drawn on the computer. Branding starts young in this house.
- Yes she has still drawn me at the computer BUT...look where I'm facing this time. And look at the smile on my face.
- Quitting facebook to devote more face time to my kids = best thing I've done in ages.

Love it Anna!! The photos of Maggies Art Classes bring back some precious memories - Mollie was the same age when she started there!! That picture of you at the computer made me smile.... its amazing how quickly kids pick up on things! I am so happy for you. xx
