Hold on to your knickers!

We are in a hive of preparation for Nathan's first birthday this weekend. Even had a break from open homes for the next few weeks which has been bliss. But while I am sewing up bunting flags, buying stripy straws and trying out new exciting recipes, the birthday boy has developed a bizarre trait.

Nate appears to butt shuffle around the house, and find pairs of knickers in laundry piles or under beds, and promptly sticks them over his head and wears them around his neck like a necklace. The first time I saw him like this I figured the older two had done it to him as a joke and I unwrapped the poor lad mumbling something about older siblings with too much time on their hands.
Nate styling a purse, Oliver's boxer shorts around his neck and Lucy's knickers on his head.

But then I witnessed him do it, while Marcus was having a shower. Nate made his way into the bathroom and the pile of discarded clothes Marcus had shed on the floor. Nathan rummaged through, grabbed Marcus' dirty undies and put them over his head.

It has got to the point where laundry piles and baskets are now placed up high out of reach, and discarded clothes in the bathroom are thrown in the empty bath rather than the floor. My Gran used to have a dog, Tessa who did this too. Not put undies on her head but she used to dig them out of your suitcase when you stayed and stash them away in her dog basket. Gran had to send my knickers back to me on more than one occasion after having found Tessa's hidden stash days after I had left.

So there you have it.  Our almost one year old going through a weird phase. Weird but definitely worth recording. Bring on your 21st birthday baby boy.
