This Everlasting Summer

Last weekend, the kids and I were in Napier dropping Lucy off at a birthday party. It was 3pm and so hot. Being mid April, and the trees fast loosing their leaves in the grip of Autumn I hadn't planned on a beach visit but with a few hours to fill until we needed to pick her up, killing some time on the beach just seemed right.

I love that we live only 20 minutes from the ocean, in either direction. I love that we can do little acts of spontaneity like this.

And I love that little naked bum with the arm outstretched as this guy gets his balance on the sand.

I also love watching what goes on at the port. It's not the prettiest beach in the area but it's so fascinating  watching those ships being loaded up.

Both boys swam, Nathan even putting his head under- he thought it was hilarious.

This summer has been a boomer and just continues to keep on giving.
