This little guy

He's one and a half now. My little milestone where I can stop counting in months and start measuring his age in years.

He isn't saying much. Mama and Dada are the only words we can work out. The rest is gestures and little "ahhh ahh ahha" noises.  He covers his ears with his hands to say yes please. This one took me a while. I actually took him to the doctor thinking he might have an ear infection always covering his ears like that. Turns out he just invented his own form of baby sign language.  It's a cute little game now. I hold things up asking if he wants them. Apple? (he shakes his head), banana? (another head shake) bottle? (hands go up over ears.)

He waves goodbye and can give kisses goodnight.

He climbs up on everything. Pretty much every apple in our fruit bowl has a Nathan bite mark in it.

He likes apples but not to eat. He bites them, chews it then spits out little bits of apple all around the house leaving a trail of chewed up apple which even Sam won't eat.

He is also going through his posting stage. I have to check his nappy bin on emptying because he loves posting his shoes and socks in there. The toilet is a favourite place to post things too. The phone we can never find because it is hidden away in some cupboard or drawer. Nothing is safe from his little hands. Lucy found her hairbrush, the TV remote and my wallet in the upstairs laundry hamper. He posts, I run along behind him all day putting things away.

He eats his dinner at the table with us now. He is a regular part of the family, not the baby anymore. The older two love making him giggle.

This autumn has been fun going for lots of walks with him and Sam.

He loves these walks and it's nice for me too because while most of my day is done in a rush, these walks with Nate can't be rushed. It's a dawdle and a time to stop and smell flowers, pick up stones, to step back and breath deep seeing the world through his little eyes. It's a blessing. He is a blessing. Love him!

And how cool is it that this jacket gets round two. Can't work out who looked cuter in it, Olli or him. Our little top gun.

  1. He is adorable. The jacket...oh man! I am getting complaints from my uterus looking at your son and wondering if our troupe is destined to continue filling out like Little Women...

  2. Oh that jacket!! Heartbreaker! Love that he stops and smells the flowers and absorbs everything around - that's a blessed quality that I pray continues through into his adulthood :) Adorable!
