Trade Me Goodie.

I can stay up way too late browsing trade me. Sometimes I'm not even looking for anything in particular just curious to know if there is a bargain to be had. I have got better and now limit my browsing to Hawkes Bay so as not to fall in love with something in Christchurch and then have to sort out a nightmare in shipping.

It was on one of these nights when looking for a bookcase for Lucy's room that I came across this shelving unit. 3.6meters long and reserve at $50.00.

I brought it, we got it home using a neighbours double trailer and it was only once it was in our garage that I actually measured and realised that the only place for it would be in our upstairs lounge and with a tight corner in our staircase,  I had no idea how it was going to get upstairs.

Marcus with a full plate of his own, washed his hands of it. It was to be my problem project.  And as such it sat in our garage for days, then weeks.

When those weeks turned into months and with us unable to use our garage I realised I was never going to get around to it. Marcus' uncle is very handy and was on the look out for some extra work. So in the interest of getting our garage back we ended up paying him to finish, paint and move it upstairs. He did it all in 4 days including lifting it up onto our upstairs balcony from the back lawn and then through the ranch slider. He is a legend and the result is better than I ever imagined. So happy with it and now we have a place to store all the DVD's, board games, lego, etc. Perfect!

    1. ha ha Dee, and here is me thinking you would have liked the before version with it's vintage 1970's edging design way more than the finished version. :)

    1. Man, you don't know how hard it was for me to avoid buying old wing backed chairs to try my hand at re-covering. but Hamilton is a bit far to send my hash attempts to you to fix, and I know deep down I don't have the patience for that kind of work, as much as I wish I did. I was so inspired by your work though! Amazing.
