Getting to know you

So on Friday Nate will be 2 weeks old.  That sounds like nothing, considering my little stint in hospital already feels a lifetime ago. Really, only 14 days old? The days and nights seem to merge into one really long time frame where I have literally done not much more than feed, change nappies, nap and fitting in the occasional wash. Today I'm hoping to venture past the letterbox, which in itself is daunting. But these two weeks have also been bliss. I have been blessed with this amazing 'Village' (church, neighbours, friends, family) who have taken it upon themselves to raise the rest of my family with meals, babysitting, kindy drop off and pick ups, the list is endless. It has meant that I have been able to just hang, gaze, pray over and ENJOY our newest family member all to myself.

And it's weird because even though he was inside me for a long 9 months, and you'd think we'd know each other, we didn't. We met for the first time 2 weeks ago and since then we have been getting to know each other. He is so different from our other two. Completely unique and I Love him so much already after only 14 days. Take a peak at how much he's grown.

But he's still my little hedgehog all bunched up. It must be weird getting used to been able to stretch out.

Marcus also deserves a special mention here. He has been taking on my shift around this house as well as his own to allow me the time to recover properly. So while he has watched me gaze and enjoy Nate, he's basically been like a single Dad to our eldest two. (Hats off to you single parents, don't know how you do it.) I know you're tired Marcus and I'm sure jealous of my prescribed rest but man I love you for taking it on. It won't be forever, and the kids and I are so spoilt to have you. x

That's Oliver and Marcus having some boy time. Excuse the dirty window, we have a puppy. Enough said.

  1. Hey hey! I found you via Dee-lightful, and then ended up sitting staring at the newborn treefrog on you up there for.ages -- my babies were NEVER that small, I am in awe. SOOOO adorable. Love reading your apt descriptions of those first weeks after a newborn's arrival. Great post. ;)
