Oliver is moving on up in the kindy ranks. Some of the older kids have turned 5 and headed off to school which now means that Olli at the grand age of 4 years, 2 months is now one of the older kids at his preschool. He is enjoying the extra work they give them when they turn 4 such as learning his letters and numbers and writing his name.
| This is him super chuffed with the Quilt blanket his Nan made him. |
He is also getting creative with his story telling and role play. Check out the puppet he made out of a balloon.
One side is a happy man, but don't get him angry or he'll flip over and turn into a monster!
Arghhhhhh!
He has a friend at kindy who is 'all boy awesome.' He also knows all about Ninjas and has got Oliver completely obsessed with them. Olli pleaded to get a Ninja mask just like his friend's and because he was due some spoiling with his sister off to Wellington with Nan, I caved and got him a Ninja set of mask and sword.
He was so excited he wet his pants. True story. I mean, seriously why waste a second going to the toilet when there is a Ninja mask to remove from it's packaging.
Anyway, after running around the house wearing this mask and screaming and yelling I told him that Ninjas don't scream and yell. They are quiet and sneak up on people. That's what makes them so clever, they hide and catch people by surprise. This might have been naive of me, but in the moment I thought I was a genus because the yelling and screaming ceased and the house returned to some sort of calm while Oliver practiced 'sneaking.'
He went to sleep that night wearing his dress up. It was so cute we took a photo.
Fast forward a few hours and picture me waking at 2am, with Oliver standing over me wearing this mask and holding his sword up. Not so cute this time. After he saw the fright he gave me, he goes, "Was I sneaky enough Mum? That was sneaky aye? You didn't even hear me come up the stairs!"
He told me on Saturday that he was going to be an All Black then as we pass the Fire Station he asked "Mum, drop me off here so I can hang out with the firemen because I'm going to be one of those too...and a policeman and a...hospital. "
"A hospital?" I ask.
"Yeah you know, to help the sick people."
"Oh you mean a Doctor" I say
"No, a hospital."
What can I say, he aims big and who am I to shatter those dreams. :)
