I have to record that date because I realise that this blog dates the posts as I write them and so I also realise this post is almost a week late.
But Friday the 25th of November is Thanksgiving day. We don't celebrate Thanksgiving as a holiday in New Zealand. I wish we did. I love the idea of family getting together to remember to give thanks for the year that's been. The harvest, the blessings. And this year on Thanksgiving day, we got a huge blessing. The birth of our third child. A boy.
An here he is a few minutes old.
Nathan Timothy Smith
Nathan, (Nate) -Hebrew: the gift of God
Timothy- Greek: To honour God
He was born a tiny 7 pounds one day ahead of his due date at 1.15pm after an induction that morning. (read about the reasons for this and the delay in blogging in the post Nate's arrival.)
He is the little brother to some very proud and protective siblings.
And some very thankful parents.
And here's my Dad who we all think he looks like.
Marcus actually had the nerve to say "it's weird having a baby that doesn't look like me." Yep,Welcome to my world babe. You got the first two, it's only fair.
