My favourite flower ever is the peony and as such you would think I would be able to learn and remember how to pronounce it correctly. Honestly every time, I make a big dork out of myself. (pennys, ponys, pooeenes???) It has such a short season, end of spring, early summer and since our garden is a big fat nothing this year due to starting over, decided I could justify buying myself a bunch.
So glad I did, They take my breath away every time I pass the vase. I have some fake ones of these in our bathroom year round but you just can't beat the look and sent of fresh flowers.
Stunning aren't they? My Mum is arriving tomorrow to stay for a week and since the season is all but over, might just buy myself one last bunch to put in her room.
oh, Anna, what a lovely blog! you are such a good writer. I love these flowers, too. In Germany they are called pentecost roses, because they come out aroun pentecost end of may/ beginning of june.
